What Customer is Best Suited to a Mattress (Bed) in a Box?

Author: Eric Buchfink

If you are carrying a little extra weight, you probably have concerns about how a mattress will support you in the long-term. The good news is that comfortable and affordable memory foam mattresses are often cited as the best option for heavier individuals, due to their temperature modulating materials, and their ability to support.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you’re a larger-than-average individual. Comfort, back and spinal support, joint pain relief, and sleep temperature are all important factors to consider when buying a new mattress.

If you weigh less than 250 lbs you’re probably a very good candidate for the Gotta Sleep OMG mattress. If you weigh more than 250 lbs, we encourage you to visit a Brick and Mortar specialty mattress store, where you can try out coils and specialty foams designed to support and distribute weight.

Mattress Thickness

One important factor that bears consideration for sleepers of a larger size, is the thickness of the mattress. While any thickness can work for a period, heavier individuals will be more comfortable on a mattress that’s at least 8 inches thick. And multiple layers of foam generally offer more support. See more about thickness here.
